I feel lost.. You guys probably all think I'm lost as I haven't posted in quite some time. It has been a whirlwind of drama, sickness, and emotions here, and I'm quite lost in it all. I don't even know where to begin. . .
Perhaps we should start with the flu. . . the girls both were diagnosed with Influenza B about 2.5 weeks ago! They ran HIGH fevers (we got up to 104.8!) for several days before their mean, nurse, Momma decided to take the to the MD. I convinced him to swab for flu in addition to the non-necessary strep test he did. . . and, 1 point for the mean mom. . .though I wish I had been wrong. They were down and out of school for over a week. It's a sad thing that when you homeschool, flu, or any illness, is like a reprieve. We are slooooowly getting back into the swing of things!
There have been some wild changes around here. First, as a means of preventing burn-out while I deal with the demands of our daily life, we have enrolled Bean Boy in Classical Conversations... If you haven't heard of it, it is a college prep homeschool program. He goes to "class" once a week, and completes assigned assignments at home the rest of the week. We went to class to preview for next year. I ended up leaving him for the day and he had a great time. His teacher invited him to join this class where it is. She said some wonderful things about him (my heart skips a beat) including that he fit in to this class well, and was at their level. Sigh. WARNING: I'm about to brag about my kid on here, cause I dare not do it in front of him!!! He basically skipped a grade, 2 in math! This Challenge A is approximately on a 7th grade level, and he does the Challenge B math which is pre-algebra.... AND, I've always been so worried about how he would do as far as keeping up with the rigorous amount of work a program like this has, but I've seen something odd in him... something I don't recognize. I think it is called motivation AND determination!!! It is challenging for him, he's trying to learn to focus, and plan, and get all 6 hours worth of daily work done in 6 hours, and while it is taking him a lot of time, he has not despaired and has kept an amazing attitude. I'm so proud! :)
One other BIG change, one that breaks my heart, is that my hospital lost it's trauma certification. This means no more trauma drama for me. It does truly break my heart. I finally found an area of nursing that I enjoyed, and I had previously thought that to be impossible. We are still an ICU, but we will no longer have trauma ICU patients, just medical surgical. It's not what I enjoy, and I feel like I have to start all over again learning, but it is what it is. The hospital is appealing, and we should know by September what our status is. I'm greatly disappointed I no longer get excited about going to work, which makes the over time I am working all the more difficult. I am grateful for the time I had doing it, and am hoping that our status will be renewed in September.
I miss writing on my blog. . . but as you can see, life seems to pull me away. I do find this very therapeutic, whether there are readers or not. I hope to get back to posting at least on the weekly wrap-ups, but I'll post as I can. Life is such an adventure! Being lost is hard, but not the end of the world. God knows where I am, even if it's not in a great place, He won't lose me!

Weekly Wrap-Up: Coming out of the Funk
Well, we started back to school again, which should mean you'll be seeing more regular posts from me. . . at least in the weekly wrap-up department! I'm still not really over my Christmas "funk" so I've had a super hard time wanting to write, but rest assured, I'm sure God is stirring up something in there that will eventually overflow onto my empty page. That's usually how it works.... I get in a funk (bad attitude and all) He teaches, disciplines, I change and overflow with what He has taught. It's such a painful process, but I usually like myself better on the other side of it. I'm kind of sitting back letting Him take the lead and waiting.
As for school, this has been a fabulous week! As much as I stomped my feet and pitched a fit about going back, (my bad attitude has pervaded every part of life! lol) I'm glad we're back at it. It has been quite the adjustment though. Baby T has cried every day this week!!! She rarely cries. In fact, we went for a bike ride and on the way home, she cried the entire way, "Momma, I can not take any more!" Now, one might expect this from a 5 year old who just rode a bike over a mile, but Baby T takes 2 hours of gymnastics twice a week and just the conditioning part is something I could not withstand!!! Yesterday she took a short nap and woke up crying! I kept her home from the gym. She must be growing or something...even though she's in the 95th percentile for her height! Poor Baby T!
Bean Boy has had an amazing week as well. His work load has been lighter as I'm still waiting for some things to roll in, but he's had some major accomplishments. I promised him a new game on the Nook if he could simply put his school books away daily instead of leaving them all over the house... I'm sure by the time I post this, he'll have a new game. He hasn't slept well this week, but has a determination, like I've never seen in him before, to get his school work done. I wish he'd apply that to chores as well, but I'm not a choosy beggar! We're making progress. He's done a great job in school, keeping up with all his work, staying on task, and making good grades with fewer careless errors than usual! Yiiiiipppeeeee!!! You guys remind me to read this the next time I'm complaining!
Little Bit has had a good week. We've backed her up in reading and started at the beginning of Hooked on Phonics. I keep trying new things for her, knowing for quite certain that she is dyslexic...even though we've not officially tested. She doesn't like to be challenged in anything she does, so backing up to easier reading has been good for her. She has not complained once this week about reading, and yesterday, we ended our reading session while laughing! I was so happy with that!!! We'll keep plugging along at her pace (hopefully I'll remember that "her pace" part!).
As for me, I've had a couple of projects. I got a new sewing machine that we are all in love with! ;) I made several aprons, and am hoping to start selling some of the sets soon. I even checked at one of our consignment shops, and they are willing to talk about keeping 1-2 on hand to sell for me! Exciting!!! VERY NERVOUS about that though. SO, I've got to sit down and figure out how much to charge and all of that, make the hats, and oven mitts too. I even made an apron for Baby T's doll, at her request, and it turned out so cute! I also, finally, finally finished my chore chart!!! I think I started this at the beginning of the school year! Geesh! It took long enough. I think it looks so pretty, and it is right outside of the school room, so I don't forget to keep up with it there. I love it....
Be forewarned... while I am going to get back into a regular twice a week posting, next week may be an exception. I will work four nights in a row starting Friday, and then will be going on an anniversary vacation with my husband next Friday! Wooohoooo! Thank you to my MIL who is helping make it possible once again! Don't know what I'd do without you! Have a great weekend! Linking up with

Weekly Wrap-Up: Fabulously Crazy
Well friends... it has been another fabulous/crazy week! Or should I say fabulously crazy?! We have been busy as usual, but in a super fun way.
In My Life This Week. . . (and some of last week)
First off, I need to back up to last week just a tad (remember my weeks are weird cause I work Fri/Sat).... I had a Friday night off of work! *Insert here whistles, applause, streamers, and balloons! It was weird. But, we made the best of it! ;) Hubby and I decided we'd get the kids some bikes for Christmas, and ourselves too. And, as you know great deals on Craigslist don't last. So Friday night, and Saturday morning we ALL got bikes. Well, except for Baby T. She's going to practice on Little Bit's old bike, but will be getting a bigger one for her before Christmas. Back to Friday night... we cooked together (even Bean Boy who usually prefers to be alone, joined us without being asked!), we had a family movie, popcorn, and just an amazing time together. Saturday we went to get the rest of the bikes, we went to a little outdoor sale and got a free lunch, and just had fun. Of course, then it was back to work...but 1 night doesn't really bother me! I feel like superwoman when I only have to do one night! :) Sunday, they woke me up at 3:00 begging to go for a bike ride. I couldn't say "no". Especially since Hubby spent Saturday while I was napping, cleaning out the garage to fit the bikes in! It was a beautiful day and we had a wonderful time...even ran into a great friend! So, now, everyday I hear, "Can we go for a bike ride?" Which is great! It will keep me accountable to exercising, and give the kids something other than TV to look forward too!
I've also been getting ready for THE PARTY.... Friday is shopping day. I'm hoping Hubby will make the chili the day before (he doesn't know that yet!). Thursday and Friday will be organizing day. I've got lists for what goes on which table (all number nicely like an organizing fool) and will put each list in its own box for each table. Sunday, I'll sleep after work, then run over to my mom's house and get it all ready. Thank you Mom for letting us use your amazing yard for such a fun party! I hope we can pull it off after me working the two nights before!
My crazy kids decided to beg me for Christmas music!!! It's playing in the background while the kids work on school and cleaning and such! I love Christmas music, but feel like it's a little early. We found our Thanksgiving joke book to offset! I'll have the girls practice reading by reading me a joke a day until Tday!!!
In Our Homeschool This Week. . .
Well, I'm not going to lie... I'm still struggling with sticking to the plan. I'm totally rebelling and wanting to do other things. I think part of the problem is that I have yet to figure out, in my 7 years of homeschooling, how to maintain our home the way I like, and do school. One or the other suffers...until I feel the walls closing in, at which point they both suffer. And that is where I am now. I can't stand the mess, the dirt I know is there, the kid-cleaned bathroom desperately needs mom's touch, my room is worse than any other place! Geesh! Ok... this part is supposed to be about school. We ARE getting everything done, I just don't want to! hehe! With the girls, I'm doing a lot of games, and different things to practice with reading. Math has been much of the same. Because of Bean Boy's writing class, every week the girls and I spend an hour in McDonald's working on our school- they get the bonus of hot chocolate and they work really well there. It's nice to change it up every once in a while!
I Am Inspired By. . .
Well, while we were in McDonald's this week, an older gentleman (who I believe sat behind us last week) came up to me and said, "I've been bragging about you to my wife. She is a school teacher. I told her what a great job you're doing and she wishes that more parents were like you. Your girls are smart and beautiful." Well...even though I don't wanna do school some days, I think that will get me through the next 7 days till vacation! Thank you Lord, for the encouragement!!!
Places We're Going and People We're Seeing. . .
We had an impromptu lunch with a friend this week. My son's best friend and his family, to be exact. I felt bad, because it had been a long time since we had seen them. We were already out for writing class, and the chiropractor, so we invited them out. It was a special treat! And, I'm so looking forward to Little Bit's birthday party...cause it's just going to be so cool, and because it will be a reunion with friends we love dearly and don't get to see often enough!
My Favorite Thing This Week Was. . .
I have such an amazing family, that it is hard to decide what my favorite thing this week was. But, I think it would have to be our times together. It is a blessing to not have to send my kids away every day! I love being with them. Our bike ride, our family movie, school/park day, school at McDonald's, cooking together as a family, late night talks with Bean Boy, late night talks with Hubby, how can a mom decide?
Ya'll have a great weekend!

Weekly Wrap-up: November Already????
Here we are at the end of another week...and I'm floored that we've already made it to November! Can you believe it??? Incredible!!!
I'm so excited, and I'm not counting down or anything, but we only have 10 days of school left till our long winter break! Being that we live in FL, it's just too hot to do anything in the summer, so we take off for the holidays. We'll start again some time in January. I truly can think of little else than all the things I want to do on our vacation!!! I doubt I'll get to it all, but I'm so super excited! I have pinned many, many things/ideas to my Pinterest boards...that pesky website has gotten the best of me, and well, now I have more to do than ever! I'll fill you in as we get closer!
Planning has begun for Little Bit's 7th, yes folks, 7th birthday!!! How did we get this far along? Her birthday is the day after Veteran's Day, but we'll celebrate on V-day this year. We've invited several families for a "Glow in the Dark" party... you can check out that pesky little website (hehe) Pinterest for ideas. We will try things like glow in the dark bubbles, kickball, ring toss, and possible a glow in the dark treasure hunt. There will be a bonfire, hot dogs, chili, and an outdoor movie with our DVD projector...she wants to watch Pocahontas. I can't wait to report how it all goes...especially since I have to work the night before!
In our homeschool this week… Ok...so I've already told ya'll I have senioritis. We did have a very lovely park/school day with our friend...one where we made these really cool things (see pics). I gave copies of the printouts of the really cool leaf animals from a blog to my friend, so I don't know who to credit, but it wasn't my idea! I have backed down to "just the basics" with the girls. AND, Friday....well, Friday we skipped school! Bean Boy did his writing assignment for co-op, and that was it. No quizzes this week. I let him off the hook...shhhh don't tell Hubby!!! ;)
I am inspired by… I'm sure at some point the inspiration of Pinterest will turn into frustration, but for now, I'm inspired!
My favorite thing this week was… Having a Friday night off with my family! AND, a Saturday morning!!!
What’s working/not working for us…I'm not sure if it's me, the curriculum, the kids at all different levels, or WHAT, but I feel like Story of the World might not be working for me. We've been doing 2 chapters a week, which has seemed fast. But, I feel like we're flying through it and the lessons aren't sticking. I'm not making connections, so how could they be? I've never exactly found what works with us for history, and it is a subject I have a love/hate relationship with. I love it, but am clueless about it, so I feel like I keep going in circles. I'd welcome suggestions about how to make SOTW work, or other curricula you guys are using...
I’m cooking… Chili!!!! Pulled out the crockpot and had our first chili of the year!!! I always find the first chili of the year exciting.
I’m grateful for… I'm grateful for this season of thankfulness. I love seeing everyone's posts on their blog and FB about all the things we are grateful for. It is proof that God is good, has been good all year, and will continue even after this season passes. It is proof that He cares about the little things, even me! Ya'll have a great and very blessed weekend!!!
I am praying for.... I am praying for all the people affected by Hurrican Sandy. Specifically, I am thanking God for all the hospital staff in the hospitals that had to be evacuated. Seriously, every year we have evacuation training. We go into the stairwell and laugh about how they expect us to put patients on a glorified cardboard box, and get them down the stairs. I saw pictures of people doing this in New York! I know that the loss has been devastating for people in the path of Sandy. I hope that people will see God's grace and all will feel His compassion and love.
Bean Boy's creation!
It is supposed to be Little Bit's Butterfly....I might have it upside down????
Despite the frustration of the wind, Little Bit made two...this is her bird.
Mom's bird...
Baby T's cat and tree.

Weekly Wrap-Up: Successful in Survival
So this week has been successful in survival.... I see light at the end of the tunnel for my husband's school, for our homeschool, for the holiday/birthday arrivals, and for some fun! Woohoo!
I say holiday/birthday, because this is a wild time of year for bdays... If I new how to put a calendar in, I would, BUT... birthdays start Oct. 25 and go like this... Oct. 25th, 26th, 2 on the 27th, 28th. Nov. 2nd, 12th, 15th, 26th. Dec. Hubby and I have the same bday on the 11th. And of course, two weeks later we celebrate Jesus' birthday! SO...including Jesus, that's 12 birthdays, 2 major holidays, 2 minor holidays (if you include Halloween), and a lot of craziness! Whew...that always wears me out!
In my life this week.... This is my last week of orientation in my new job, and then I'm on my own. I am extremely nervous and excited. I do really like it and am glad I'm there, but am extremely aware of how little experience I have in this area, of how smart the people that I'm working with are, and of how far I have to go. My insecurities are at their height when I'm at work...so it's kind of strange that I'm really enjoying it. Also, I got some super, amazing news this week from a dear friend. And, that makes me sooooo happy!
In our homeschool this week... I've been stressing a lot about getting through our history lessons because we've been skipping some. Turns out, I didn't plan as many as I had thought, so as far as my planning goes, I'm not behind! That's good news!!! That relieved a lot of stress. I do however feel bad that my son and I have not had enough time to read our read aloud...and it's The Hobbit, which I really want to read. He has had several days where he is still doing school up till dinner time (his fault not mine!). I have to figure out how to get this read aloud time back.... The girls are progressing in their skills with reading and math, and I'm excited about that.
My favorite thing this week was.... Our surprise trip to IHOP for free scary pancake day! The kids had no idea what was going on when I woke them up before the sun was out saying, "Get dressed, I have a suprise! Hurry up!! Let's go!" It was nice to wake them up and have them happy to get up...of course they weren't thrilled to go back home to school and chores, but they did...
Things I'm working on.... Part of the reason I'm so terribly excited that we only have 15 days of school until our winter break (15 days, yippee, yippee) is that I have a list of craft projects, gifts, chores, and stuff that I want to do. This sacrificial life is hard on me.... I need to do what I want to do sometimes instead of always doing what I have to do. I love schooling the kids, love taking care of them, but as moms all know...sometimes we need "me" time! They'll be around helping and doing their own projects I have planned for them!
I'm grateful for.... No one is as blessed with a rich family life as me! I have been given the pot of gold as far as I'm concerned! I love my kids, my husband, and our life together. God has lavished grace upon me in this area!
Have a blessed weekend!

Not only did we get to history, but we did our history projects too!
Mom might not care for painting, but the kids sure do love it!

Review: Math Made Simple
I recently did a review for a friend from Hearts at Home. I thought I'd share it with you guys! Enjoy!
Math Made Simple Review
We were very excited to be able to review Math Made
Simple. I must confess that math is my
son’s favorite subject, so in that way only, our review is slightly
biased. However, my 11 year old is
reviewing (with me) the Algebra package, so it was a bit of a challenge. However,
after watching the demo, he was hooked and wanted more.
We found each lesson to be easy to follow, with step by step
instructions, adding new, more challenging concepts one at a time. This gave the opportunity to conquer one
thing before moving on to a new concept.
I think my son’s biggest complaint was that the lessons were long. They are each about 50+ minutes. We would complete about half of the lesson a
day. It is easy to break down the
lessons, because there are “sections” of each lesson which make it easy to find
a stopping place.
The lessons are arranged such that they are made up of
mostly practice problems. The teacher (of whom you only see her hand) shows a
problem, and solves it, step by step, on the video. My son would pause the video and try to solve
the problem. Then he could see exactly
where his mistakes were and remember to correct that before the next
problem. At the end, there are review
problems which mix all the concepts together.
The explanations are also given for these. The first lesson in the series had a lot of
vocabulary which was very necessary for completing the problems and
understanding the explanations in the rest of the videos.
What is nice about this curriculum, is that it can make a
great stand-alone curriculum…especially for people who are afraid of higher
level math (you know who you are;). In
addition, each lesson is sold separately at a very affordable price so that if
you need a supplement, a different person/way to explain a concept, a few more
practice problems with explanations, or even just a break from being the math
teacher for a lesson or two, you’ve got options! The packages are a great deal too. The
lessons never expire and are transferable to your other children, which makes
the great price even better.
Thoughts from the student:
The teacher is easy to understand
and she tries not to make it sound boring.
I like how they don’t give you a few examples and then give you 100
identical problems to do on your own. The only thing that would make it better would
be if the teacher told some jokes. Overall,
I’m enjoying the curriculum, because it’s math, and it sounds interesting.
You can check out their website here.
*It should be noted that the opinions expressed here are my own. I have not been compensated for this review. I have been given the curriculum to keep for review purposes.

Weekly Wrap-Up: Trauma
- In my life this week…The big news this week is that I finally started my new job. I applied in May, but our hospital has been expanding and I had to wait until the new additions were complete...then I had to wait to train someone new on my old floor before I moved to my new floor. I actually had a good time training someone, really liked the person, and am now training under someone I really like...8 weeks of not having my own patients... think there will be trouble when I'm on my own again? ;) It's a big, scary step for me, but something I've wanted to do for a long time. I'm around people I really like, and who can teach me a lot. Hopefully the "trauma drama" won't be too much for my emotions. And above all, hopefully, I'll learn quickly all the new things I have to learn!
- In our homeschool this week… I'm not sure how I've done it, but since we've started back to school, we've managed to stay on schedule! It's amazing, and I'm so thankful for all the help I've had from my husband and MIL. I know without them my precious schedule would have long been long forgotten. The girls were sick this week, so I did bump their schedule, but with K and 1st, I feel like I can be a lot more flexible. They had 2 sick days... Mom had 2 "get it together" days!
- I am inspired by… There are certain people I know at work (and outside of) that are just incredibly intelligent nurses. They can answer almost any question I have, think quickly, and have amazing critical thinking skills. I wish I could be like that, but my brain is not a sponge...more like a colander! LOL!
- My favorite thing this week was… This is silly, but it was a much needed confirmation.... at work one of the respiratory therapists couldn't "place" me. He knew he knew me, but couldn't figure out where from. Of course, I told him I transferred, and he figured it out. He made several comments about how bad it has been on my old floor lately (yeah, I know!). This really made me think about how glad I was to be moving to a smaller unit with a really tight team. But the kicker, and quite honestly boost to my confidence, was when I said to the other therapist, "I think I'll be ok down here"....he turned around and said, "Oh yeah, I always thought you would be good down here!" Ya'll... I really needed to hear that!
- What’s working/not working for us… Just a note to say that my goal of making Bible study the most important thing, is being carried out...and that my kids are really enjoying Stick Figuring Through the Bible (Esther) and want to continue with this Bible study. Amazingly, they love our hymn study and Scripture memory as well! I'm so encouraged.
- Things I’m working on… The pinterest bug has hit me... about once a year I start feeling crafty and here it is. I have accomplished a few things I've already shared, and am now working on a few more. Today my mom and I are getting together for a crafting day. Hopefully I'll have some pictures of things I can post. I have a list....wonder how far down I'll make it!

Epic Fail!!!
Thank God for grace....really. Today I woke up without any motivation. I was exhausted....didn't want to wake up kids, and certainly didn't want to take them to the park for school today like I promised. I tried to talk the kids into going on another day, but they declined.... so, I fulfilled my promise. It took me a while to decide which park, too. We talked about it, and I was going to try something different from our usual, but I remembered that people from our group sometimes go on Tuesday, and I didn't want everyone, myself included, to be distracted. So, we packed up, and went to Subway (yeah for $5.00 turkey footlongs!), and then headed to the park... The entire time I was trying to remember all the things I had to be grateful for, and trying not to remember all the times I was short tempered and barked at my children just this morning...
Enter here our arrival at the park.... I did check the weather before we left. It was supposed to be a nice day, 10% chance rain, only 60% humidity (which is good for FL!), and sunny. Well, the sun wasn't to be found. There were clouds everywhere. In fact as we drove over the bridge, I saw rain off in the distance. I was, well, a little concerned, but hey, I'm a trooper, right?! So, we unpacked, me still extremely grumpy and trying desperately to be thankful and happy. Trying desperately, but failing miserably! I was so tired that it seemed like work to keep my eyes open. It was certainly work to keep my voice sounding kind and saying kind things, and was just too hard, and I failed at that over and over. I did manage to find things to write in our Thankfulness Journals, but it was hard to mean it... I was glad to be able to take the kids to the park, but with the amount of wind we were experiencing, I was immensely frustrated. We couldn't keep the tablecloth down...even with tying off the ends. We couldn't keep our Bible papers in one place. I apologized to the kids for the frustration, for my grumpiness, for being mean and ugly, for not practicing self control... oh the list goes on...
That's why today I'm thankful for grace. I was awful to my children. I tried to just not talk so I wouldn't blow it again. When the rain started sprinkling down, I apologized and just told the kids I couldn't do it anymore...while it would probably blow over and not amount to anything, (and I don't think it did) I needed to go home. They agreed.... on the way home I stopped at DQ and got them ice cream cones as a means of reconciliation. I went straight to bed...the girls put the food away and Bean Boys finished his school. But when I was on the way to bed, Little Bit said, "You're the best mom ever, even when you're grumpy!" I'm sure it was the ice cream talking, but I'm still so thankful for grace.
There were many moments today of which I am not proud. But, there are even more moments that are memorable in a good way. The best memory, while humbling, is of the kids forgiving their cranky mommy! I'm thankful that despite my crankiness they still think I'm a great mom, I disagree, but I'm thankful for their perspective! I'm thankful that tomorrow is a new day and I can start again trying to speak kind words and lifting my children up instead of tearing them down. I'm thankful that God has promised to forgive me for treating his children poorly. I'm thankful His mercies are new every morning!

Did you know you could do math in a tube?
You can see the girls' hair blowing like crazy...this was after we moved behind the trees to try to block the wind a little!
It was actually chilly with all the wind...those two snuggled while we had our Bible lesson. See the blowing hair?

Weekly Wrap-Up: Grateful for "Normal"
- In my life this week… It was a plain, old, normal week!!! Yippeee!!!
- In our homeschool this week…Let's just say that we've come to the end of the week, and I'm just so thankful that it was NORMAL!!! I didn't have to share homeschool responsibilities; meaning Hubby nor Grommy were teaching this week, just me and my kids! Work did not interfere this week! The last couple of months have not afforded many weeks like this, and I'm just so grateful to have one. I remember now that I actually like to homeschool, I hate sharing my kids (even with family) and time is so precious and fleeting! I wish I could make time stand still on our normal days!
We are working on a review for Math Made Simple, and my son is doing algebra...and likes it! He is 11 people...oh my word!!! More on this in a couple of weeks.
We did make it to the park and to a field trip. Poor Bean Boy did school at the park, and late in the afternoon the next day to keep up! I'm proud of him.
- I am inspired by… Pinterest...I tried, tried, tried so hard to resist... but it got me. My mom yelled at me for actually doing the things I pinned saying I make everyone else look bad. Well... truth be told, I'll never measure up to those amazing people. Ha! I'll just stick with gluing fabric on plastic cups, and move on!
- Places we’re going and people we’re seeing… Our field trip this week was to see the lego movie Jericho that was written/produced by a homeschool family. It was hysterical! AND, very well done! Impressive! Here is a link so you can sneak a preview...
- My favorite thing this week was… as stated above, having a "normal" week.
- What’s working/not working for us… Work is not working for me...anyone adopting a homeschool family???? Though, I have to say I'm getting excited/nervous about transferring to the Trauma ICU....this is my last weekend on my current floor!
- I’m praying for… my friend Angie. She's a long way from home, and I love her dearly. Angie, I know your purpose is mighty, and that you are serving the Lord with all your heart! I love you!

I also love this lady! Rachel always displays a theme of gratitude...something God's teaching me so much about!!!

Weekly Wrap Up: Keeping it Real
Well, I didn't meet my goal of at least 2 posts a week, but in my defense, I've been really sick! As a nurse and mom, I don't do sick very well...though, I must be getting better at it because I got a ton of stuff done! I did spend much of the day in bed on Tuesday which is the day I'd usually try to write my 2nd post, or 1st, however you want to look at it.
So, this week was our last of our short 2 week break. :( Seriously, unschooling sounds like so much fun! We still had a lesson in saponification! My mom and her friends came over, gave us a chemistry lesson and we made soap. We learned about the exothermic reaction the lye makes when placed in water, and that saponification (soap making...and a really cool "big word") started around 2500 BC....I'm curious to know what they did before then? We made glycerin soaps in the shape of skulls and crossbones and some lye soaps with different scents. I cannot decide on a favorite, honeysuckle, oatmeal and honey, special edition vanilla (different from your usual vanilla) are all at the top of my list, but we made a few more too. Apparently I have to turn them every day for a couple of weeks, but that side of my kitchen smells really good. My mom is so excited and wants to start a business with me! I guess we'll see what happens. Hubby is on board.... I'm growing time on trees, instead of money of course!
This week we also saw my grandparents (2 sets) for lunch, had Hubby away overnight for his internship, had a "kid swap" with a friend so each mom could have time alone, made a trip to the "big library," and accomplished massive amounts of planning and plodding- nay, trudging through cleaning out the school room! UGH... will it ever be done!? Today I believe it will... if I finish, I'll add pictures in this post.
I also did one other thing... my mom actually yelled at me saying, "You know, the rest of us just pin stuff on pinterest and let it sit there. You're making us look bad by doing the things you pin!!!" *Giggle! That made me feel good...when do I ever get to do things special and extra? This week was full of them! For the girls, I made "lampshades" out of plastic punch cups by covering them with material I bought at WM. I then put slits in the bottom, and stuck lights through them. I hung up one set on their bed, and have to find a place to hang the other set...I think they look pretty good.
My week at home ended with making chocolate chip cookies and going to Moms to use her cricket to complete our new chore chart....let's just say, I'm not a fan of gluing! This morning (Friday) I will finish up the planning and cleaning of the school room.... UGH! Then, begins my 4 in a row! Double UGH!!! But, as the kind lady at the dollar store pointed out, only 6 more paychecks till Christmas! :)
WARNING! WARNING! This is where it gets real. IF you want to continue to think I'm the neatest person ever (snicker, snicker), stop reading HERE!
So, as I was eating breakfast, one in which I had to trick the children into thinking they had enough by making silver dollar pancakes because we didn't have enough bisquick, I realized just how awesome I made myself sound in this post... Ha! That's funny! I remembered the reason I started this blog wasn't to make myself look good, but to be real! So, while yes, we did some really cool stuff this week, here is where I failed... I didn't make one homemade dinner! Or lunch! Today was the first breakfast I made all week! This after singing praises about different things I use to help in this area (here)! My school room still looks like it is under construction. While I started planning and made good progress, I don't have much hope I'll actually finish. My living room is and has been a disaster since, well, I don't know when. Below is a picture of my work table in the living room....mind you, this is after most of the planning has been completed and it is about 2/3 smaller than it was before I thought to take a picture... It had been my goal to get this area cleaned up too, but I'm not extremely hopeful for that either. I have yelled at my children. I did not take a shower yesterday. I am truly real. I told Hubby, I can do neat/fun things with kids, school, and maintain some order (though not sure where it is) OR fix meals... I can't seem to do both. I have just decided I want our family relationships to come first. I never want my kids to feel like a clean house was more important that them.... they should definitely think that! Please join in my excitement with the fun we've had this week, be encouraged that all the bloggers out there are "real" people and we can't see the whole picture of their lives. Be encouraged to spend every minute you can building relationships with your chilies and leading them to the Lord, whether it be through meals, cleaning, school, fun projects, or even, saponification!
I am, as always, eternally grateful for the wonderful times, the mess, and the awesome family God gave me to share all this with!
I hope you all enjoy your weekend! Blessings!
OK....It's done!!! Woohooo wooohooo!!! See why it is such an accomplishment here.
AND, while I didn't get to clean up my area in the living room, Little Bit straightened it somewhat! Sweet girl!

Weekly Wrap-up: Finding Adventure in Following Him
Things go better for me when I start this wrap-up in the beginning of the week! I've already forgotten what went down! LOL!!! We did do quite a bit of school, and I distinctly remember loving it and feeling organized and on top of things. Ok, so that was good. We even did school on Tuesday and then attended our Not Back to School Party at JumpZone... that was interesting! 102 kids in one place!
The kids favorite superhero...on this day anyway!
This slide at Jump Zone was very scary because it was super fast!
The kids had a blast. Wednesday was a typical day... school, rain, gymnastics! Rain has become part of our "typical" day around here. I do love the afternoon T-storms. . . but I HATE the mosquitoes, the natural result of all this rain. Baby T must be super yummy, because just running out to feed the chickens results in 4-10 bites! It's ridiculous! Well, I guess the benefit is that it has seemed like a much cooler summer.
I did have a little fun with lunch, inspired by Gina at SkinnyTaste!
Not sure why this came out fuzzy! :(
Thursday was special because I had my interview, and got the job! I will be transferring to the trauma ICU some time next schedule (around the end of September beginning of October). I had my choice of med-surge ICU or trauma. It was a very, very difficult decision to make. I tried very hard to get the manager to make the decision for me, but in the end I had to. I still have mixed emotions, but in the end I followed what I felt like God wanted for me. After praying quite a bit about it, I felt like He was saying that in the end trauma training will be good for missions. So, maybe it won't be exactly what I'm looking for, but it will be a fantastic learning experience, and more importantly, what He wants for me. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. It's always an adventure when we let God lead!
Ok... just this morning, the most exciting thing of the week happened! We found our first egg!!!! One of our 4 baby chicks...ok, grown up chicken... has laid us an egg! Yippeeeee! We are all so excited!
Our very first chicken egg!!!
Well, it's off to work for the weekend. I hope you all have a great weekend!

Weekly Wrap-Up: Standing Strong
So last week was simply fantastic while I seemed to do amazing with very, very little sleep... but this week. Well, I seem to be paying for my lack of sleep! I worked 3 in a row this weekend. And, I'll be working Thurs/Fri/Sat this week... one of those being an overtime day.
Monday we had Grommy here while I got about 2.5 hours sleep. My poor kids... I woke up asked my son to make PB&Js for them, texted Hubby that mommy wasn't going to make it, and went back to bed! If I remember correctly, Hubby tried several times to wake me. He was finally successful around 5:00ish, and we made it to our chiropractor just in time. We came home, and I was back in bed by 8:00...unfortunately 6 hours in bed is all my body can stay in bed at a time. I was up for a couple of hours, down again, and up by 0700... It is Wednesday night as I sit here and write this... I'm still not recovered! Geesh! And I'm back at it tomorrow!
Being as I hadn't recovered, I loaded the kids up and we went to visit my grandparents. We rarely go out to seem them. It's hard to take 3 kids, but we had a great time. The girls showed off one gymnastic move after another, I took my SD card and we looked at pictures on the computer... had my camera, but didn't take any pics! :( Then we came home and had a nap! :)
Baby T started her 2 hour gymnastics class this week. This was one of the highlights of the week. It really was a terrible class all together, but I received a huge blessing. Her Tuesday teacher subbed in her Wednesday class. Most of the girls in this class are also in her Tuesday class, so they know each other really well and the teacher too. And boy did they really take advantage of it! They were incredibly wild. All of the kids were jumping on equipment they were supposed, they weren't listening, they were looking, they were doing a poor job at their gymnastics... all of them... except Baby T! She was focused, obedient, pleasant, and completely following directions! We talked about it afterwards, and I asked her if it was hard to be the only one not goofing around... she said yes. I commended her, and told her that this was a time Jesus was shining through her! I know she finds it frustrating, and feels like it takes away from her time in there, but she handles herself like a 50 year old instead of a 5 year old. She inspires me!
So- I may not have time to add anything to this wrap-up... there was school done. I figured out we have 1 more week until the 9 weeks is over, and I'm taking a 1-3 week break...I'll get to the school room then (hehe)... Hubby figured out our hymn because all the kids and myself are walking around singing it! (isn't that great?) There are 3 days of work to come. BUT, the highlight is definitely Baby T standing strong and doing what is right, even when it is hard. I hope one day I can be like her!
